Finland drops 15 places in economic and demographic viability ranking
A study by consultancy MDI shows Finland ranks sixth in an OECD countries' attractiveness index, but has slipped 15 positions in economic and demographic viability since 2010.
Consultancy firm MDI has developed an international index assessing the attractiveness of the 38 member states of the Organisation for Economic Co-operation and Development (OECD) as places to live and work, based on their viability, ability to attract and retain people, and social resilience. Helsinki Times reported on the findings, citing the MDI study.
Finland ranks sixth overall among OECD countries. However, between 2010 and 2024, its standing in terms of economic and demographic viability fell by 15 places.
Leaders and biggest movers
Iceland tops the overall ranking, followed by Switzerland, Norway, Denmark and Ireland.
Ireland, the Czech Republic, Estonia and Slovakia showed some of the most significant improvements since the early 2010s, climbing from lower positions. Over the same period, Canada, Japan and the United States dropped in the rankings.
