Latvia to see rain and thunderstorms this week, drier weather possible next week
Forecasters warn of rain and thunderstorms over the coming days as cyclones continue to shape Latvia's weather, with a possible anticyclone bringing drier conditions next week.

Latvia's weather this week remains under the influence of cyclones, though forecasters say an anticyclone could form over the country next week, bringing drier conditions.
Rain and thunderstorms ahead
Over the next 24 hours, weather will be changeable, alternating between sunny spells and rain. In some areas heavy downpours and thunderstorms are expected, along with temporary strengthening of wind.
On Saturday, a cyclone approaching from the south is expected to bring significant rainfall across a wide area. However, its exact path remains uncertain, and it is possible that the heaviest precipitation will fall over Belarus rather than Latvia.
Temperatures to stay moderate
In the second half of the week, nighttime temperatures will range between +9 and +16 degrees, while daytime highs will average +17 to +23 degrees. No sharp temperature changes are forecast for next week.
Longer-term outlook
According to the European Centre for Medium-Range Weather Forecasts, average air temperatures in Latvia next week are expected to remain, as this week, one or two degrees below the seasonal norm, with precipitation likely below the usual amount for late August. In September, however, both temperature and precipitation are expected to move closer to the long-term average.
