Rain and thunderstorms expected across Latvia this week
Latvia will see intermittent, at times heavy rain and local thunderstorms on Tuesday and Wednesday, with cyclone influence keeping rain chances elevated through the rest of the week.

Latvia's national weather service, the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, forecasts scattered short-term rain across the country on Tuesday, with longer and locally heavy rainfall expected in the southeastern districts during the morning hours.
Overnight into Wednesday, rain is expected mainly in the eastern regions, while daytime showers are likely to be more widespread on Wednesday itself. Local thunderstorms are possible on both Tuesday and Wednesday. With winds staying light on both nights, patchy fog may form in some areas.
Temperatures
Daytime highs will reach +15 to +20 degrees Celsius on both days, with Wednesday slightly warmer in some areas. Nighttime temperatures will drop to +10 to +15 degrees, with the night into Wednesday running a couple of degrees cooler across much of the country compared to the previous night.
Outlook for the rest of the week
Forecasters say conditions are unlikely to change significantly in the second half of the week, as Latvia will remain under the influence of cyclones, keeping the probability of rain relatively high. However, rainfall will be unevenly distributed, since the rain zones will shift from day to day, meaning some districts may stay dry during this period.
On Thursday, wind is expected to gradually strengthen, with gusts in Kurzeme reaching up to 15 meters per second around midday. Rainfall is likely to decrease toward the end of the week, though gusty winds could return to Kurzeme on Sunday.
