Sean McCann – brother of Madeleine – to swim at Commonwealths

Sean McCann, the younger brother of Madeleine McCann, is set to swim for Scotland at the Commonwealth Games in Glasgow this Saturday. The 21-year-old Loughborough University student is entered in the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle events, marking his debut at a major championships.

The 400m heats begin on Saturday morning at the Tollcross Swimming Centre. McCann expressed his excitement, stating he is looking forward to representing Scotland and doing his absolute best. He described the opportunity as the pinnacle of representing Scotland, especially at a home Games, and noted that having family in Glasgow makes it even more special. He recalled watching the 2014 Commonwealth Games as a child and said that competing 12 years later feels like a full-circle moment.

McCann grew up in England but qualifies to compete for Scotland through his father, Gerry. He and his twin sister were two years old when Madeleine, then three, went missing during a family holiday in Praia Da Luz, Portugal, in 2007. The case became one of the world's most high-profile missing-person investigations and remains an ongoing Metropolitan Police inquiry.
