New season of Latvian show "Lauku sēta" to film at strawberry farm in Dobele district
The 13th season of the popular show "Lauku sēta" will be filmed at the "Pļaviņas" strawberry farm in Penkule parish, Dobele district, now run by Ieva Eihmane, who took over the farm less than a year ago. Participants will help tidy the grounds and move the farm closer to the owner's dream home.
The new, 13th season of the Latvian reality show "Lauku sēta" will be filmed at the "Pļaviņas" farm in Penkule parish, Dobele district, known for its extensive strawberry fields. The farm is surrounded by a pond, a forest edge and an orchard, but behind the picturesque setting lies constant hard work.
Less than a year ago, Ieva Eihmane took over as head of the farm, continuing the work started by her parents and choosing rural life over a city career. She says farm life brings both calm and heavy pressure, but she finds more satisfaction in creating something herself than in office work.
Tasks planned during filming
During the show, participants will help carry out several long-planned projects at the farm. Plans include tidying the grounds, tearing down an old barn, cleaning out the pond, setting up a rest area by the riverbank, and building a new enclosure for the chickens. Helpers will also be needed for preserving vegetables to build up winter stores.
The farm owner notes that there is always work to be done year-round — something to tend, plant or prepare for the next season. Still, she says this lifestyle offers freedom to plan one's own time — some days mean working 16 hours straight, others allow for rest — and most decisions do not need to be coordinated with anyone else.
For the Eihmanis family and Ieva herself, this season is expected to carry special significance, coinciding with the recent change in the farm's ownership.
