TV tonight: BBC2 documentary on the first animal to poo
The Guardian highlights tonight's TV lineup, featuring a BBC2 show on the evolution of the anus, a documentary on the Warsaw Ghetto, and the latest episode of 'House of the Dragon'.
Tonight's TV offers a diverse range of programming. At 9pm on BBC2, "Evolution" with Chris Packham explores the first animal to defecate. According to the show, around 570 million years ago in the Ediacaran period, the urbilaterian floated in the waters, having only one opening for food intake and waste expulsion. A mutation led to the anus – "the anus was a breakthrough!" as the show puts it.
At 11:50am on PBS America, "The Ghettos & the Holocaust" uses historians, archive footage, and diary extracts found in metal boxes to depict the Warsaw Ghetto. In November 1940, 15-year-old Miriam Wattenberg wrote: "Today, the Jewish ghetto was officially created. Where is the Moses who can free us from this oppression?"
At 9pm on Channel 4, "24 Hours in A&E" features a 23-year-old woman rushed to Queen's Medical Centre after a horse fell on her; a 5-year-old boy with a severe hand cut; and a man in his 20s possibly having a stroke.
At 9pm on Sky Atlantic, "House of the Dragon" sees Ormund Hightower (James Norton) say "The patient hunter gets the kill," as Rhaenyra Targaryen's (Emma D'Arcy) reign frays. Daemon (Matt Smith) wants to fight fire with fire.
At 10pm on Channel 4, "Secret Lives of Gypsy Wives" follows Trewley Precious Temple, who unveils a beauty collaboration. Her manager says she "came out of the womb in lashes".
At 12:05am on Channel 4, "Secrets of the Celebrity Sex Tapes" features Mimi Faust, Love & Hip Hop: Atlanta star, whose 2014 sex tape sparked a media frenzy, including an accidental slapstick with a shower rail.
