Spain returns to top of FIFA world rankings after World Cup triumph
Following their World Cup victory, Spain's men's national team has reclaimed the top spot in the FIFA rankings, overtaking Argentina. Latvia remains unchanged in 137th place.

The latest FIFA world rankings have a new leader: Spain, after winning the World Cup which concluded on Sunday. They leapfrog previous leaders Argentina, having been ranked second before the tournament.
The top ten sees notable shifts: France and England hold third and fourth respectively, Brazil climbs to fifth, and Morocco to sixth. Portugal drops to seventh, Belgium rises to eighth, the Netherlands falls to ninth, and Mexico breaks into the top ten at tenth after moving up from 14th. Germany exits the top ten, falling to 12th.
The biggest jump belongs to Norway, up 12 places to 19th. Switzerland gains five places to 14th.
Among the Baltic states, Latvia stays at 137th, Estonia at 127th, and Lithuania at 149th. Latvia's best-ever ranking is 45th (2009) and worst is 148th (2017).
