Spain became the first team to book a spot in the World Cup final after a commanding 2-0 victory over France on Tuesday. The Spanish side applied early pressure, earning a penalty in the 20th minute when Lucas Digne handled the ball in the box. Mikel Oyarzabal converted the spot kick to give Spain the lead. France suffered an early injury as William Saliba was replaced by Maxence Lacroix, and Marc Cucurella received a yellow card.

In the second half, Spain doubled their lead in the 58th minute when Dani Olmo set up Pedro Porro, who slotted home from close range. Lamine Yamal thought he had scored later, but the goal was ruled out for offside. France pushed for a comeback but were denied by solid Spanish defending. Kylian Mbappé was booked after a clash with goalkeeper Unai Simón.

This is Spain's second final appearance in World Cup history, the first being in 2010 when they won the tournament. Spain's campaign began with a surprising draw against Cape Verde, followed by wins over Saudi Arabia, Uruguay, Austria, Portugal, and Belgium. France had won all their matches before the semi-final, including victories over Sweden, Paraguay, and Morocco. Mbappé missed part of the quarter-final due to injury. The second semi-final between England and Argentina is scheduled for Wednesday.
