Spain wildfires leave destruction across Ávila province
Wildfires in central Spain have caused severe damage in Ávila province, destroying homes and vehicles as firefighters battle to contain the blazes.
Firefighters in central Spain are continuing to battle massive wildfires that have devastated parts of the Madrid, Ávila and Toledo regions. Crews from Spain's Military Emergencies Unit (UME) are working in Sotillo de la Adrada, west of Madrid, to control the flames. Spain's Minister for Ecological Transition, Sara Aagesen, said approximately 77,000 hectares have been affected, with the largest burned area located in Ávila province.
In the town of Navaluenga, burned homes and charred streets illustrate the scale of one of the most severe wildfire emergencies in recent years. Firefighters remain on the ground to contain hotspots and prevent further spread of the fires. The situation remains critical as emergency crews continue their efforts across the affected regions.
