Spain's Noval wins junior road race at Cycling World Championships in Montreal, Latvia's Tjumins finishes 60th
At the road cycling World Championships in Canada, Spain's Benjamin Noval won the junior men's road race, while Latvia's only finisher among two entrants, Georgs Tjumins, placed 60th.
The road cycling World Championships continued in Canada with another day of racing, featuring the junior men's road race. Of the two Latvian riders entered, only Georgs Tjumins completed the 134-kilometre course, finishing in 60th place.
The race was won by Spain's Benjamin Noval, who made the decisive breakaway on the eighth of ten laps. The Spanish rider crossed the finish line with a time of 3 hours, 23 minutes and 35 seconds.
Latvia's second entrant did not finish the race, leaving Tjumins' result as the only Latvian finish recorded in the event.
