Heavy downpours in Riga caused an unpleasant surprise for customers and staff at a DEPO hardware store located on Lubānas Street. A video posted on social media shows water covering the store floor, spreading between shelves and customer walkways.
The clip, uploaded to platform X by user CardinalisRavus, quickly garnered widespread attention. It depicts people navigating through the flooded aisles while employees attempt to manage the situation.
It remains unclear how much damage the store sustained and whether the water ingress was due to building defects or an overloaded drainage system. During intense rainfall, large amounts of water can accumulate in a short time, especially where drainage systems cannot handle the volume.
