Major Fire Breaks Out on K. Ulmaņa Gatve in Riga

On Tuesday afternoon, a large fire broke out in Riga at K. Ulmaņa Gatve, producing a thick smoke plume. The State Fire and Rescue Service (VUGD) confirmed receiving the call at 3:52 PM. Initial reports suggest the fire may have started in a warehouse. Over 20 firefighters with eight tankers and two ladder trucks have been deployed to the scene. Due to heavy smoke, residents near the beginning of K. Ulmaņa Gatve and in the Bieķensala area are urged to close windows and doors, turn off ventilation and recovery systems, and avoid driving in the vicinity. VUGD continues active firefighting and situation monitoring.
