Arc Raiders and The Finals set for TV and film adaptations
Production company Chernin Entertainment has signed a deal to adapt video games Arc Raiders and The Finals into television and film projects, with developer Embark Studios also involved.
The wave of video game adaptations keeps growing. Production company Chernin Entertainment has struck a deal to turn both Arc Raiders and The Finals into television and film projects, according to a report from Variety. Embark Studios, which published both titles, will also be involved in the effort, though specific project details remain scarce — so far there are only corporate statements describing the move as a major growth step for both franchises and promising integrated transmedia experiences.
Chernin's president described the games as ambitious global intellectual properties with the potential to grow into major film and television franchises. No concrete format or storyline direction has been shared yet.
About the games
Arc Raiders is a third-person extraction shooter, while The Finals is a free-to-play first-person shooter built around a game-show premise. Neither title is particularly known for deep narrative content, which gives filmmakers considerable freedom to build original stories as long as they preserve the games' core worlds.
Chernin Entertainment has a solid recent track record in this space, having helped produce Backrooms for theaters and The Madness for Netflix, alongside earlier credits including Kingdom of the Planet of the Apes and the Fear Street trilogy.
Part of a bigger trend
This announcement joins a long list of game-to-screen projects already in motion. A Helldivers film is set for next year, with Elden Ring and Call of Duty adaptations planned for 2028, while the long-awaited Legend of Zelda film is also approaching release.
