Spider-Man: Brand New Day Leak Draws Millions of Views
The leaked Spider-Man: Brand New Day attracted millions of views, but the film continues to break box office records.
A bootleg copy of the new Spider-Man film remained available on X for more than seven hours before being taken down. During that time, the post reached over 5.9 million accounts and accumulated more than 143,000 likes. Other accounts have shared the leaked movie, but Disney has been quick to issue takedown requests, so none of the reposts stayed online for long.
The leak is unlikely to affect the film's box office performance, which has already been record-breaking. Spider-Man: Brand New Day collected $72 million in previews this week, surpassing the previous record of $60 million set by Avengers: Endgame in 2019. Endgame went on to set impressive opening weekend records with over $1.2 billion worldwide and more than $350 million in the US, according to the source.
Spider-Man: No Way Home currently holds the second-highest US opening weekend gross of all time with $260 million. Brand New Day could potentially overtake Endgame, though it faces an uphill battle.
