The Baltic International Airshow (BIA) 2026 took place at Spilve Airport in Riga, marking its fifth year. It was the only airshow in the Baltic states this summer with such an international program and a large military presence.

Highlights of the Show

Visitors witnessed dynamic displays by the German Air Force's massive Airbus A400M Atlas transport aircraft. The Hungarian Air Force's SAAB JAS-39C Gripen fighter performed its only full demonstration in the Baltics this year. For the first time at this airshow, French Air Force Rafale fighters appeared.

Slovenia made its Baltic debut with a solo performance by the PC-9M Hudournik turboprop. Lithuanian pilot Jurgis Kairys, known as an aerial virtuoso, delivered both day and night shows. The UK's Aerosparx team presented a unique night display with two Grob motor gliders, unseen before in Latvia.

World Premiere and More

BIA 2026 hosted a world premiere: the restored Rutan Long-EZ aircraft with a special 'SMURF' color scheme, piloted by Italian Alessandro Scorrano. The historic DC-3 'Daisy' from Sweden was on static display.

Latvia's Storm Riders paramotor team performed a sunset/night show with LED lights, smoke, and pyrotechnics, created specifically for this event. Lithuania's Sky Hackers stunt group executed new tricks never seen before in Riga.

Additional Attractions

Attendees could experience the unique Helibaltic HeliKart helicopter ride. The Latvian-built Tarragon Turboprop aircraft raced against a real Formula car. Military aircraft were based at Riga and Lielvārde airports and flew over Spilve airfield for demonstrations.
