Sports federations again hit by late state funding, cumbersome process

Sports federations in Latvia face a recurring challenge: even though they submit their state funding applications on time, the money actually arrives only in July. This pattern repeats every year and has a negative impact on the federations' operations.

The late arrival of funds affects the federations' ability to meet their obligations, including preparing national teams and enabling their participation in competitions. This hampers not only the daily work of the federations but also the athletes' chances to get ready in time for important events.

The process is still described as cumbersome and slow. Even when applications are submitted in accordance with the rules, several months pass before the funds are actually received. This is not a new issue, but it remains unresolved, and federations continue to feel its effects.

Sports organizations point out that the situation repeats year after year, preventing long-term planning and creating an additional burden. A more efficient funding mechanism would allow federations to focus on their main tasks instead of dealing with problems related to the timing of money transfers.
