Spotify launches User Notes feature for songs
Spotify has introduced a new feature called “User Notes,” allowing users to add personal notes to individual tracks in playlists, making them more personal. The feature is available to users aged 16 and older on both free and premium plans in select markets.

Spotify Introduces User Notes
Streaming service Spotify announced on Thursday the launch of a new feature called “User Notes,” which enables users to add their own notes to individual songs within playlists. The feature is designed to let users capture personal memories associated with tracks—for example, noting where they first heard a song or what event it reminds them of.
How It Works
To add a note, users navigate to a playlist they have created or one containing tracks they have added, tap the three-dot menu next to a song, and select “Add note.” After typing and saving the note, it becomes visible to anyone who can see the playlist, with the user’s name linked to their profile.
The feature is available to users aged 16 and older on both free and premium plans in select markets. Spotify noted that over time, these notes paint a picture of the music listeners love and the moments that shaped it.
Additional Launch: Running Mode
On the same day, Spotify also debuted a new “Running Mode” that curates songs based on different phases of a run and selects tracks based on user preferences and pace. This feature is available to premium users in select countries.
The User Notes feature is part of Spotify’s effort to differentiate itself from rivals like Apple Music and YouTube Music by offering a journaling-like capability not available on other platforms.
