Monaco explosion: Three wounded, authorities call it deliberate attack
On Monday evening, an explosion at a residential building in Monaco wounded three people, including a teenager and a Ukrainian oligarch. Authorities have labeled the blast a deliberate act.

Three people, including a teenager, were wounded Monday evening in an explosion at a residential building in Monaco, which authorities described as a deliberate act. The blast occurred at around 9:00 pm local time in a building on a street along the border with France. A source close to the investigation told AFP that one of the wounded was Ukrainian oligarch Vadym Yermolaiev. The Minister of State of Monaco, Christophe Mirmand, initially called the explosion an 'attack' but later revised his statement, calling it a 'deliberate explosion'. A suspect left a bag or package in the building's lobby before fleeing, according to public prosecutor Stephane Thibault. The explosive device apparently contained bolts and buckshot, Mirmand said. A couple in their 50s or 60s sustained life-threatening injuries, while a 13-year-old, who is likely related to the couple, suffered less serious injuries. Their nationalities were not disclosed. Mirmand noted that this is the first such act in Monaco's history. The motive for the attack remains unclear, and police are searching for the suspect. The prosecutor is expected to brief the media on Tuesday.
