Stankevičs family's fight over their apartment reaches the Constitutional Court
The Stankevičs family's six-year legal battle over their apartment has reached Latvia's Constitutional Court. The Senate of the Supreme Court suspended the case and referred it there.

A Latvian family, the Stankevičs, has been in court for six years over an apartment that is their only property. The case has been passed from one court to another and has now reached the Constitutional Court, which in Latvia assesses whether laws comply with the country's fundamental law.
The family had been waiting for a ruling from the Supreme Court. However, the court's Senate suspended the proceedings and turned to the Constitutional Court.
The family stresses that they bought the apartment in good faith. In a few weeks, the Stankevičs will learn whether, and in what form, their fight for the property will continue.
