Janis Baltvilks International Prize Awarded to Maria Parr and Translator Jolanta Pētersone; Literature Prize to Osvalds Zebris
This year, the international Janis Baltvilks Prize has been awarded to Norwegian author Maria Parr for her book "Tonya Glimmerdal" and its translator Jolanta Pētersone, while the Baltvilks Prize for literature goes to Osvalds Zebris for "Andris un Kalna Klapētājs".
The international Janis Baltvilks Prize for children's literature has been awarded this year to Norwegian writer Maria Parr for her book "Tonya Glimmerdal". The prize also recognizes the Latvian translation, with translator Jolanta Pētersone receiving the award. The Latvian edition, titled "Mēs ar Tūru", was published by Liels un mazs in 2025.
In addition, the Baltvilks Prize for literary work has been granted to Latvian author Osvalds Zebris for his book "Andris un Kalna Klapētājs". This work was also published by Liels un mazs in 2025. The prizes are traditionally awarded for contributions to children's literature and book art.
The Janis Baltvilks Prize is an annual award established in the 1990s, named after the Latvian poet and translator Janis Baltvilks.
