International Team Storms Past US to Lead Presidents Cup

The International team delivered a dramatic turnaround on the second day of the Presidents Cup, sweeping all five foursomes matches against the United States on Friday at Medinah. The result pushed Geoff Ogilvy's squad into a commanding 7-3 lead.

The US had held a 3-2 advantage after Thursday's fourball matches, but the alternate-shot format proved decisive in the International team's favor. Sungjae Im and Hideki Matsuyama opened the day's success with a 3&2 win over Russell Henley and Jacob Bridgeman.

Canadian pairing Corey Conners and Nick Taylor then delivered a standout result, edging world number one Scottie Scheffler and Sam Burns by one hole. Burns came close to salvaging a half point, but his roughly 20-foot putt on the final hole narrowly missed.

Open champion Ryan Fox, partnered with Min Woo Lee, won a closely fought match against Collin Morikawa and Wyndham Clark by one hole. Adam Scott and Christiaan Bezuidenhout followed with a 3&2 victory over Justin Thomas and Cameron Young.

The day closed out with Tom Kim and Si Woo Kim securing a dominant 4&3 win over Patrick Cantlay and Xander Schauffele, completing a clean sweep of the foursomes session.

The result strengthens the International team's chances of claiming their first Presidents Cup victory since 1998, and only their second since the event began in 1994. Four more foursomes and four more fourball matches are scheduled for Saturday, ahead of 12 singles matches on Sunday that will decide the outcome.
