New Purchasing and Gifting Features

Valve has rolled out several improvements to Steam's gifting and wishlist features. Users can now purchase games using a guest account, not just gift cards or Steam hardware. This simplifies the buying process for those without a permanent account.

Furthermore, games can now be sent directly via email. Previously, the sender needed to know the recipient's Steam account. Now, a link can be emailed even if the address isn’t associated with a Steam account. However, both parties must be in the same country, and the gift is automatically refunded if not claimed within 30 days. For cross-country gifting, the sender and recipient must be Steam friends, but the system now automatically calculates the price in the recipient's region.

Wishlist Organization

Steam has introduced categories for wishlists. Users can create folders or tags to organize saved games. Categories can be named arbitrarily, and games can be added from store pages or the current wishlist. Selecting a category at the top filters the list to show only those games. Notifications for discounts can be enabled or disabled per category.

Smaller Tweaks

Other updates include generating a shareable link for the entire wishlist or a specific category, seeing if saved games have demos, and playing trailers by hovering over game tiles.
