Latvia's Ministry of Agriculture has announced that farmers whose land was affected by storm damage or flooding will not automatically lose their right to previously applied-for support, even if they are unable to fulfil certain eligibility conditions.

According to information the ministry provided to the LETA news agency, affected farmers must notify the Rural Support Service (LAD) in a timely manner about the damage caused by the natural disaster. The service will then be able to allow farmers to retain their claim to support despite the unmet requirements.

The measure is intended to help farmers who suffered losses due to extreme weather conditions and, as a result, could not comply with all the original terms for receiving the assistance.
