Heavy Rain Destroys Road in Talsi Region, Residents Left Isolated
Severe rainfall in western Latvia has completely destroyed a road in Balgava Parish, Talsi region, flooding the area and cutting off residents without power.

The heavy downpour that hit western Latvia on Monday has caused severe damage in the Talsi region. According to local residents, the road in Balgava Parish near the Dursupe River has been completely torn apart, and the surrounding area is flooded. The river overflowed its banks, creating a massive washed-out hole where the road used to be, making the route impassable.
Adding to the trouble, a transformer exploded overnight, leaving the area without electricity. Residents describe the situation as dire: "People are now like on an uninhabited island – they can't get anywhere." There is no information yet on when road access or power supply will be restored.
