Stojtšesku: Kunnas would be a good candidate to lead Estonia's national defence committee
Former head of the Riigikogu's National Defence Committee, Kalev Stoicescu, has backed independent MP Leo Kunnas as a fitting candidate for the chairmanship. A formal vote is set for September 14.

The chairmanship of the Estonian parliament's National Defence Committee could go to independent, non-affiliated MP Leo Kunnas. That assessment came from Kalev Stoicescu, who led the committee until recently and left the Eesti 200 party and its parliamentary group a week ago.
Speaking to Estonian public broadcaster's news programme "Aktuaalne kaamera," Stoicescu said Kunnas had served as his deputy on the committee for the past three and a half years and had carried out his duties excellently. Stoicescu described Kunnas as a highly competent person and said that, given the current situation, Kunnas is a good candidate for the post. He added he was confident Kunnas would handle the role very well.
Vote scheduled for September
The formal vote on the committee's new chair will take place on September 14, when the Riigikogu convenes for its autumn session.
