Štolcermanis crashes out in final FREC race of the season in Hockenheim
Latvian racer Tomass Štolcermanis was involved in a three-car collision on the first lap of the second race at the season-closing FREC round in Hockenheim and failed to finish. American Sebastian Weldon won the race.
Latvian motorsport driver Tomass Štolcermanis endured a disappointing finish to his season on Sunday at Germany's Hockenheim circuit, the venue for the final round of the Formula Regional European Championship (FREC). Starting the second race of the eighth and final round from tenth position for team Prema, he was caught up in a three-car collision on the opening lap and was forced to retire without scoring.
Race winner
The second race was won by American driver Sebastian Weldon of MP, who finished less than a minute ahead of Italian driver Emanuele Olivieri of R-ace.
Misfortune in race one as well
Štolcermanis had already suffered a setback in the round's first race, where he was fighting for third place before sliding off the track with just a couple of minutes remaining. Although he managed to rejoin the race, he was later forced to withdraw regardless.
Season overview
This season's FREC series featured eight rounds held at circuits that host or have hosted Formula 1 races. Štolcermanis competed in all eight rounds. Over the previous three seasons, he raced in the Italian, Middle East and Southeast Asian F4 championships.
