Stones joins Inter Milan on free transfer
England defender John Stones has joined Inter Milan as a free agent, signing a two-year contract after leaving Manchester City.
England international John Stones has completed a free transfer to Inter Milan, signing a two-year contract with the Italian champions. The 32-year-old centre-back left Manchester City at the end of June after his contract expired, ending a highly successful ten-year spell at the Premier League club.
Stones said he had "lived all my dreams out" during his time at City, where he won six Premier League titles, the Champions League, two FA Cups, five League Cups, three Community Shields, the FIFA Club World Cup, and the UEFA Super Cup. Following his release, he attracted interest from several European clubs, including Chelsea and Juventus.
Inter Milan secured their 21st Serie A title last season and will begin their title defence against newly promoted Monza on Saturday, 22 August.
The former Barnsley defender joined City from Everton in 2016 for a fee of £47.5 million, making 295 appearances and scoring 19 goals. On the international stage, Stones has earned 93 caps and was part of the England squad that finished third at this summer's World Cup, starting in the quarter-final victory over Norway and the 2-1 semi-final defeat against Argentina.
