JustWatch Group, the company behind a streaming guide that helps users find where to watch movies and series, has launched its own streaming service, JustWatch TV. The move extends the company from finding content to offering viewing itself, and it ties the service to the growth of its advertising business.

Content and partners

Quentin Carbonell, senior vice president at JustWatch, told StreamTV Insider that the service carries "a few hundred titles across" its different tiers, without giving a more precise figure. JustWatch TV works with 30 content partners worldwide, including Paramount and New Regency, and plans to add more.

Advertising business

The group called the service a "logical addition" to its guide. According to the announcement, JustWatch TV will supply even deeper audience data and insights to JustWatch Media, the group's service for planning and buying film marketing campaigns on digital platforms such as YouTube, Meta and TikTok for studios, distributors, streamers and media agencies.

The group's advertising arm already uses first-party audience data from the streaming guide. JustWatch Group says the guide has 50 million customers.

Founder's explanation

David Croyé, founder and CEO of JustWatch Group, said in a statement that the original vision was a single platform that directs fans to all their entertainment options in one place. In his words, JustWatch TV will help fill gaps and make it easier for the large JustWatch audience to discover and watch movies and series, including hard-to-find titles, directly in the app.

Carbonell also told StreamTV Insider that JustWatch TV aims to reach 100 million monthly users "in the years to come."
