Latvian tennis player Roberts Štrombahs, partnering with German Jonas Sperl, lost in the doubles quarterfinals of the 'Challenger 125' tournament in Braunschweig on Saturday, July 9. The duo fell 5-7, 3-6 to the top-seeded Brazilian pair Orlando Luz and Rafael Matos.
Reaching the quarterfinals earned both players 25 ATP doubles ranking points.
In the first round, Štrombahs and Sperl staged a tight match, defeating Spanish player Iñaki Forcano and Dutchman Marc Verfueth 6-7 (5:7), 6-3, 10:8.
Štrombahs did not advance past the qualifying rounds in the singles draw. The Braunschweig 'Challenger 125' event is held on clay courts.
