The Phoenix Suns will have to go without starting center Mark Williams for an extended stretch. ESPN reporter Shams Charania reported that the 24-year-old player underwent shoulder surgery that will keep him sidelined for a significant period.

Expected timeline

No official recovery timeline has been announced, but Arizona radio sports journalist John Gambadoro, citing sources close to the situation, said the Suns should expect to be without Williams for at least five months. Gambadoro shared this update on social media, noting it as the anticipated recovery window following shoulder surgery.

Last season's performance

Williams has dealt with various injuries throughout his career, often limiting his availability. Last season, however, he set a career high by appearing in 60 games. During that stretch he posted solid numbers, averaging 11.7 points and eight rebounds per game.

The new injury means the Suns will need to adjust their center rotation while Williams recovers.
