Dog named Rūds finds a loving family in old age after half a life on a chain and in a shelter
A family with children adopted Rūds, an 11-year-old dog who spent half his life chained up and the other half in an animal shelter, according to Latvian Television's "Ķepa uz sirds" program.
A family that includes children regularly visits animal shelters to spend time with the dogs living there, paying particular attention to older animals. This habit, and the newest member of the family, was featured on Latvian Television's program "Ķepa uz sirds".
When the family — Dace, Edgars and their children — learned that the Sloka animal shelter would be closing, Dace came up with the idea of taking in another senior dog. Among the listings, they noticed Rūds, an 11-year-old dog whose life had not been easy.
Rūds spent the first half of his life chained up, and the second half in an animal shelter. Only now, in his old age, has the dog finally found a loving family where he can feel safe and wanted.
