Cell Broadcast Warning: Extreme Heat Up to +35°C Expected on Sunday and Monday
The Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center has issued a cell broadcast warning for very strong heat on Sunday and Monday, with temperatures in western and central regions reaching +31 to +35°C.

On Saturday, residents of Latvia received a cell broadcast warning about an upcoming intense heatwave. The alert, disseminated by the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Center (LVĢMC), states that on Sunday and Monday, air temperatures in the western and central parts of the country could rise to between +31 and +35 degrees Celsius.
Such warnings are sent out to timely inform the public about potentially dangerous weather conditions. LVĢMC forecasts that the heat will be particularly pronounced at the beginning of the week and urges residents to take precautions – stay in the shade, drink plenty of water, and avoid direct sunlight during the hottest hours of the day.
The warning applies to Sunday and Monday, when temperatures may reach as high as +35°C. Such heat can cause discomfort and affect health, especially for the elderly and those with chronic illnesses. LVĢMC will continue to monitor the situation and provide updates.
The cell broadcast system allows for rapid warning of large numbers of people, and this is one of the ways state authorities inform about emergencies. Residents are advised to follow official weather forecasts and adhere to safety recommendations to protect themselves and their loved ones from heat-related risks.
