"Super Nova" beat "Grobiņa" for third time this season
"Super Nova" secured a 1-0 home victory against "Grobiņa", marking their third win over the same opponent this season. Goals were scored by Samate Amadu and Valerijs Lizunovs.

"Super Nova" footballers claimed their third victory over "Grobiņa" this season on Monday, winning 1-0 at home in the 23rd round of the Tonybet Latvian Higher League. All three encounters between the teams this season have ended in favor of "Super Nova" – previously with scores of 1-0 and 2-0.
The first half ended goalless, with neither side able to find the net. The deadlock was broken early in the second half when Samate Amadu struck just ten minutes after the restart. In stoppage time, the home side doubled their lead through Valerijs Lizunovs, who dribbled past defenders and the goalkeeper to slot the ball into an empty net on the counterattack.
Other matches in the 23rd round saw RFS defeat "Jelgava" 1-0 away, "Riga" beat "Tukums 2000" 3-1 at home, and "Daugavpils" thrashed "Ogre United" 4-0 away. The game between "Auda" and "Liepāja" has been postponed to late August.
After 23 matches, RFS returned to the top of the table with 59 points, followed by "Riga" with 58 points. "Auda" are third with 40 points from 22 games. "Super Nova" sit sixth with 27 points, while "Grobiņa" are eighth with 20 points.
The season consists of four rounds, totaling 36 matchdays and 180 matches. The final round is scheduled for November 8.
