Super Nova Earns Draw Against Auda Despite Playing Man Down

In matchday 28 of the Latvian Higher League, hosts Auda and visitors Super Nova played out a 1:1 draw, with both sides picking up a point in Riga.

Auda opened the scoring in the 18th minute when a pass from Oskars Rubenis found 18-year-old Endrjūss Apija inside the box, who finished cleanly to make it 1:0.

The game shifted in the 38th minute when Super Nova defender Ibrahima Diops was shown a second yellow card for a foul on Apija and was sent off, leaving his team a man down for the rest of the match.

Despite the numerical disadvantage, Auda struggled to extend their lead. Early in the second half, the ten-man visitors stayed active, and it paid off in the 59th minute: Bambá intercepted the ball near Auda's goal, launched a quick counterattack, and set up Valerijs Lizunovs, who tapped into an empty net to level the score at 1:1.

In the closing stages, Auda ramped up the pressure, dominating possession at 81% and firing 22 shots on target in the second half alone, but goalkeeper Dāvis Veisbuks saved every attempt, and the score remained unchanged until the final whistle.

With this result, Auda sits in third place in the league table, while Super Nova is seventh. Next week, on September 2, Auda will face BFC Daugavpils in the Latvian Cup semifinal, while Super Nova will travel to face FS Jelgava on September 5.
