Switzerland scores again early in second half, reaches round of 16
Switzerland defeated Algeria 2-0 in the World Cup round of 16, scoring in the 10th minute and again at the start of the second half. Breel Embolo and Dan Ndoye were the goalscorers.

Switzerland advanced to the World Cup quarter-finals after a 2-0 victory over Algeria on Wednesday, July 3. The Swiss took the lead in the 10th minute when 20-year-old talent Johan Manzambi set up Breel Embolo, who scored from close range.
Minutes later, Manzambi again infiltrated Algeria's box, but Denis Zakaria's shot was saved by Luca Zidane.
Switzerland doubled their lead in the first minute of the second half. Algeria failed to clear the ball twice, and Dan Ndoye fired in from the edge of the box to make it 2-0. This was the second consecutive match where Switzerland scored in the 46th minute, having done so against Canada in the group stage through Ruben Vargas.
With a two-goal cushion, Switzerland took full control and allowed Algeria almost no chances. In the 81st minute, substitute Fabian Rieder missed an open goal from one meter out. Algeria pushed forward in the closing stages but could not find a way back.
Switzerland will face the winner of the match between Colombia and Ghana in the round of 16 on July 7 at 23:00 Latvian time. The game will be broadcast on Go3 Sport channels.
