Sunday: Six Cyclists Injured in Traffic Accidents
According to the State Police, nine people were injured in road accidents in Latvia over the past day, six of whom were cyclists. A total of 80 accidents were recorded, and 17 drunk drivers were caught.

Over the past 24 hours, on Sunday, nine people were injured in road traffic accidents in Latvia, according to data compiled by the State Police. Among the injured, six were cyclists.
A total of 80 traffic accidents were recorded during the day, with the majority—42—occurring in the Riga region. In eight of these accidents, nine people sustained injuries.
Administrative Violations
Within 24 hours, police recorded 381 administrative violations related to traffic. These included 142 cases of speeding and one case of aggressive driving.
Drunk and Drugged Driving
During the past day, 17 drivers were caught driving under the influence of alcohol and one under the influence of narcotics. The highest number of drunk drivers—five—was caught in the Zemgale region, followed by four each in Kurzeme and Vidzeme. In the Riga region, three drunk drivers were stopped, and one in Latgale. The driver under the influence of drugs was caught in Vidzeme.
In ten cases, the alcohol concentration in the drivers' systems exceeded 1.5 per mille, or they drove without a license or caused an accident. Such violations are subject to criminal liability. The remaining seven drunk drivers received administrative protocols, as their alcohol concentration did not exceed 1.5 per mille.
