Weather in Latvia will be changeable and fairly mild on Sunday, but cooling and precipitation are expected next week. This is according to the Latvian Environment, Geology and Meteorology Centre, the state body that monitors weather conditions and issues forecasts.

Sunday

Skies will be mostly cloudy, though the sun will break through in places. Light rain is possible in some eastern parts of the country. Fog will form locally during the night. Winds will blow from the west, light to moderate.

Compared with the night to Saturday, the hours of darkness will be warmer: temperatures will drop to +2…+5°C, and to +8°C on the coast. Daytime highs will reach +5…+10°C.

Next week

At the start of the new working week, conditions will not change significantly. From Tuesday it will turn cooler: nights will see temperatures fall below 0°C over a wide area, while daytime highs will not exceed +8°C.

In the second half of the week, as the influence of a cyclone strengthens, precipitation will cover a wider area, and rain will be joined by sleet in places.

People planning trips or other activities in the second half of next week may want to follow updated forecasts, as conditions can change.
