Ukraine to see rain and strong winds on Sunday, possible traffic disruptions

Ukraine's Hydrometeorological Center has warned that most of the country will experience changeable weather with precipitation and strong wind on Sunday, September 6.

Precipitation and temperatures

Overnight rain is expected mainly in western and northern regions, while light rain may also occur in the southwest during the day. Southern regions could see thunderstorms in places during daytime. Overnight temperatures will range from 10 to 15 degrees, rising to 14–19 degrees during the day. In southern and southeastern areas, nighttime temperatures will be 15–20 degrees, warming to 22–27 degrees in the afternoon.

Wind poses a hazard

Northwesterly winds of 7–12 meters per second are expected, but across the country except the northeast, daytime gusts may reach 15–20 meters per second. Meteorologists have assigned this a level-one, yellow hazard rating, warning it could disrupt the work of energy, construction and utility companies, as well as complicate traffic.

Conditions in Kyiv and the region

In Kyiv region, light rain is expected overnight in places, with moderate rain during the day. In Kyiv itself, no precipitation is expected at night, but moderate rain is forecast during the day. Winds in the capital will be northwesterly at 7–12 meters per second, with daytime gusts of 15–20 meters per second. Regional temperatures overnight will be 10–15 degrees and 14–19 degrees during the day, while in Kyiv itself it will be 13–15 degrees at night and 17–19 degrees during the day.
