SwitchBot unveils retrofit smart lock with 19 ways to unlock doors

At IFA, SwitchBot introduced a new retrofit smart lock bundle for the European market that offers up to 19 different ways to open a door. The device is designed to fit onto existing door locks without requiring a full replacement.

At the IFA trade show, SwitchBot presented a new product bundle called the Lock Ultra Max Vision Pro Combo — a retrofit smart lock aimed at European households that removes the need for a traditional key.

The bundle supports multiple users and offers up to 19 different ways to unlock a door. These include fingerprint scanning, passcodes, NFC card access, and contactless authentication through facial or palm vein recognition. Additional options allow remote unlocking, voice commands, smartwatch access, and app widget controls through the SwitchBot App.

Price and contents

The combo is priced at €339.99 / £339.99, roughly $395. It includes the SwitchBot Keypad Vision Pro, the Hub Mini Matter, and the new Lock Ultra Max unit. This makes it more expensive than last year's Lock Ultra Vision, which launched at $249.99 and which the company says is also compatible with nearly all existing European locks. According to SwitchBot, the new Max version is even better suited to the European market specifically.

Compatibility and power

SwitchBot states that the lock is compatible with 99 percent of locks used across Europe, including common EU profile cylinders, knob cylinders, Swiss round cylinders, and UK oval cylinders. Additional adapters are available for less common installation types.

The Lock Ultra Max is built with a more powerful motor, delivering over 9 kilograms of turning force and reaching speeds of 160rpm — 3.2 times faster than the rotation speed of the earlier SwitchBot Lock Ultra.
