Thailand: 14-year-old kills grandparents before opening fire at school

A 14-year-old student in Thailand shot his grandparents at home before carrying out a shooting at his school near Bangkok, then killed himself. The attack ranks among the country's deadliest mass killings since 2022.

A shooting rampage at a school near Bangkok, Thailand, has come to an end after the suspected gunman, a 14-year-old student, took his own life, according to police.

Authorities say the teenager's violence began at home, where he shot and killed his grandparents, before making his way to the school to continue the attack.

Weapon belonged to grandfather

Investigators say the firearm used belonged to the boy's grandfather. During the rampage, the teenager fired 26 rounds, while an additional 34 rounds of ammunition were found in his possession.

No motive for the attack has been established so far, and the investigation is ongoing.

Among Thailand's deadliest attacks

The shooting is counted among the deadliest mass killings in Thailand since 2022. Photos from the scene show emergency responders tending to the injured and transporting them to hospital by ambulance.
