Frenchman and his two sons rescued after drifting 16 hours at sea in Thailand following jet ski accident

A French family was rescued near Thailand's Koh Samui island after being forced to spend more than 16 hours at sea when their jet ski capsized, AFP reports.

Rescuers off the popular Thai resort island of Koh Samui have pulled a French family from the sea after they were left stranded for many hours following a jet ski accident, according to news agency AFP.

AFP reports that the family consists of a father and his two sons, who had gone out on a jet ski trip near Koh Samui. The vehicle capsized during the outing, leaving all three in the water.

More than 16 hours adrift

Following the accident, the Frenchman and his sons were forced to drift in open water for more than 16 hours before they were located and rescued. Koh Samui is one of Thailand's most popular tourist destinations, drawing large numbers of foreign visitors each year.

The AFP report did not provide further details about the course of the rescue operation or the current health condition of the family.
