Tallinn exhibition to showcase works from Estonian Artists' Union charity auction

An exhibition opening on Friday, September 18, at the ARS art village in Tallinn will present all 162 artworks that have been gathered for an extraordinary charity auction organized by the Estonian Artists' Union (EKL).

The selection offers a cross-section of Estonian artistic life, featuring works by artists already regarded as classics alongside pieces by many currently active creators. On display are monumental painting, graphic art, photography, bronze sculpture and textile art. The auction lots include both works from the union's own art collection and pieces recently donated by the artists themselves.

EKL vice-president Tüine-Kristin Vaikla said the selection reflects the union itself, bringing together different generations and different media, and that this diversity is what makes the union a special organization and a special meeting place — much like the auction itself.

Guided tours and auction schedule

During the exhibition, guided tours will be led by Jaanus Samma, Harri Liivrand, Lilian Hiob-Küttis, Elnara Taidre and Eero Epner. The exhibition will remain open until October 7.

The auction proper will take place over three days — October 8, 9 and 10 — also at the ARS art village in Tallinn. Starting Thursday at 18:00, 56 graphic works and photographs will go up for sale. Friday's session, beginning at 18:00, will offer another 56 works, while Saturday's auction at 15:00 will feature 50 paintings, sculptures, drawings and textile art pieces. The auction will be conducted by Eesti Kunsti Oksjonid.
