Tallinn expands eligibility for education scholarships
Tallinn's city council has widened the circle of people eligible for education scholarships. Teachers studying in a preschool teacher master's programme at Tallinn University can now apply too.

The Tallinn City Council, the governing assembly of Estonia's capital, has expanded the group of people who can receive the city's education scholarships. According to ERR radio news on Friday, 16 October, support can now also be claimed by teachers who are studying in the master's programme "Preschool Education Teacher" at Tallinn University.
Conditions
To receive the scholarship, a person must work at least half-time in a municipal educational institution of Tallinn. The applicant must also meet the other requirements that have been set.
Size of the scholarship
The scholarship is 200 euros per month. Within a single level of higher education, the total amount paid out can reach 4,000 euros.
What it means
The change will affect 26 students. It will be applied retroactively, starting from 1 September 2026. The source does not say how large the city's overall budget for this purpose is, or how many people received the scholarships before the change.
The expansion concerns educators who already work in the city's educational institutions while also continuing their own studies at university. The council's decision means this group of preschool teachers can also receive financial support during their studies, provided they meet the stated requirements.
