75-year-old man drowns in quarry near Tallinn

On Sunday, July 12, a 75-year-old man drowned in the Valdeku quarry near Tallinn. Since the beginning of the year, 18 people have drowned in Estonia.

On Sunday, July 12, at 11:19 a.m., the Emergency Response Centre received a report of an incident at the swimming area of the Valdeku quarry near Tallinn. According to preliminary information, an elderly man went for a swim, but after a while his companions lost sight of him and began searching. Together with young people who were present, they found the man in the water, pulled him ashore, and started CPR. Rescuers from the Nõmme team arrived and helped transport the victim to an ambulance. Paramedics continued resuscitation efforts but were unable to revive him. According to the Rescue Department, 18 people have drowned in Estonia since the beginning of the year.
