Talsi florbolisti overturn FBK SĀC with five third-period goals to end losing run

FK Talsi/TNSS/Krauzers beat FBK SĀC 7:3 in the Elvi floorball league, scoring five goals in the third period. The win ended the Talsi side's run of three straight defeats.

FK Talsi/TNSS/Krauzers won 7:3 away to FBK SĀC in the Elvi men's floorball league, ending a run of three consecutive losses. The visitors were still trailing after two periods before taking over in the third.

Before the match

Before kickoff, the hosts from Ādaži had six points from four games and sat sixth, while Talsi had four points from the same number of games and were seventh. The hosts had lost their last two matches. Both teams were missing key players: FBK SĀC played without their top scorers Dēvids Osītis and Kristers Orlovs, and Talsi were without Toms Akmeņlauks and Dilans Kronentāls.

How the game unfolded

Niks Cekarevs scored the only goal of the first period, in which the hosts managed just two shots on target. In the second, Klāvs Araks netted his first goal since returning from the Czech Republic, but young Gustavs Celmiņš replied for the hosts and Ralfs Stratans made it 3:1. Mariss Bergmanis pulled one back to make it 3:2 after two periods.

In the third, the visitors took control. Araks scored from distance in the 44th minute, and in the 52nd Jānis Ragovskis put Talsi ahead, shortly after missing a one-on-one chance with the goalkeeper. The visitors survived a two-minute penalty, Adrians Spunde extended the lead three minutes before full time, Bergmanis added another, and Jānis Škutāns sealed the 7:3 score in the final minute.

Numbers

FBK SĀC had only eight shots on goal all game. Talsi continue to start slowly this season, with a 0-2-3 record in first periods, and both of their wins came after trailing at the first break. Ragovskis, who had a goal and an assist, has scored in all five of the team's games. FBK SĀC have killed six of seven penalties, and their 85.7% rate is the best in the league. The attendance of 64 was the lowest of the season.

The win lifted Talsi above FBK SĀC in the standings.
