Talsi Municipality to Raise Property Tax Rate for Homes With No Registered Residents
Talsi Municipality in Latvia will raise its real estate tax rate from next year for dwellings with no registered residents. A municipal spokesperson told the news agency LETA.

In Latvia's Talsi Municipality, in the northwest of the country, the real estate tax rate will be raised from next year for residential premises where no person is registered as living. Real estate tax is an annual levy that owners pay to the local authority on land, buildings or premises they own.
The planned change was reported to the news agency LETA by Madara Brāle, head of the municipality's Public Relations Department.
The source does not say how large the new rate will be, how it will be determined that a home has no registered residents, or whether any exceptions are planned. These details are not yet known.
