Several institutions run by the Talsi municipality have been without electricity for nearly a full day, according to the head of the Talsi municipal council, Ansis Bērziņš (TNA/LA).
The power outage has affected kindergartens in Sabile, Stende, Jaunpagasts and Dursupe. Since electricity has not yet been restored at these facilities, the municipality, working together with the Education Department, is searching for ways to ensure children can still be looked after on Monday.
It is currently unclear when power will be restored to the affected institutions. Municipal leaders are working to find a temporary solution for parents whose children attend the kindergartens affected by the outage, so that childcare and the education process are disrupted as little as possible.
