The Talsi municipal council has announced that a stretch of road connecting Kaļķi and Ģipka in Dundaga parish is closed to traffic due to washout damage caused by the recent storm. The affected section, located near the "Gravas" homestead, is currently impassable. The municipality is advising drivers to take alternative routes and to exercise caution.

Flooding concerns and ongoing inspections

Local residents have been reporting possible flooding risks in various parts of the municipality. While initial assessments suggest the storm has not caused severe damage to infrastructure overall, municipal teams continue to inspect the territory to get a fuller picture of the impact.

Power restoration remains the main concern

The municipality's biggest worry is the loss of electricity supply. Repairs must first be carried out by transmission operator AS "Augstsprieguma tīkls" before distribution operator AS "Sadales tīkls" can address issues within its own network.

As previously reported, an exceptionally powerful storm swept across Latvia on Saturday evening and into Sunday night, described as the most destructive since January 2005. The storm left more than a quarter of a million households without electricity, while strong winds toppled trees, blocked roads and damaged buildings across the country.
