Exhibition on Tartu's Arch Bridge showcases local youth stories
An exhibition on Tartu's Arch Bridge tells the stories, experiences and achievements of local youth, as part of the program for Estonia's Youth Capital title, which Tartu received for the first time in 2026.
An exhibition has opened on the Arch Bridge (Arochny most) in Tartu, dedicated to the lives, experiences and achievements of the city's youth. The display is part of the program accompanying Estonia's Youth Capital title and offers a perspective of the city through the eyes of young people.
In 2026, Tartu became the first city in Estonia to be awarded the Youth Capital title. The title is granted by the Education and Youth Board (Harno) to local governments that create opportunities for learning, self-realization and civic participation for young people, and involve them in urban development.
The exhibition on the Arch Bridge features the stories of 13 young individuals, reflecting the diversity and opportunities of the city. Among them are the editor-in-chief of "Värske rõhk" Saara Liis Jõerand, rapper Dew8, young actors, singers and athletes, as well as the Tartu Youth Council. The exhibition also includes the story of a graduate of the Tartu 2024 Extended program, showing how cultural projects can support youth development and self-fulfillment.
"The exhibition on the Arch Bridge gives a voice to the youth of Tartu and shows how diverse, bold and inspiring their stories can be. I hope it will inspire young people to share their ideas and initiatives, and help everyone see the important role of youth in developing the city," said Mari-Ann Saluste, head of the youth sector in Tartu.
The exhibition will be open until September 13.
