Tartu's Tartuff love film festival opens to packed square
The PÖFF Love Film Festival Tartuff opened Saturday evening in Tartu's Town Hall Square, drawing over 1,200 spectators to its opening screening. The festival runs through August 15.
The Tartuff love film festival, part of the PÖFF Black Nights Film Festival family, opened Saturday evening in Tartu's Town Hall Square with a screening that drew a capacity crowd of more than 1,200 people.
The opening film shown was the Thai production "Gohan — The White Dog." Tartu Mayor Urmas Klaas greeted attendees in a video message, noting that Tartuff's spirit beats in rhythm with love, much like the hearts of Tartu's residents.
What's next
On Sunday evening, the festival continues with two films: Maltese director Alex Camilleri's romantic musical drama "Żejtune" and Spanish director Pedro Almodóvar's tragicomedy "Tie Me Up! Tie Me Down!" All screenings throughout the festival are free to attend.
This year marks the 21st edition of the Love Film Festival, which will run until August 15.
